We can bill insurance for you. We are currently in network with Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and others (view List here). Health insurance is complicated and every plan’s coverage is different. We bill as a service, to the best of our ability. We strive to be as straight forward and informative in our billing practices as possible. If you have questions or concerns about insurance billing please do not hesitate to ask!
Q. Why doesn’t insurance cover everything you do in the office?
A. Insurance companies are for profit and make money by cutting costs. We offer some services that your insurance company may not want to pay for. We will give you our recommendations for what we believe is in your best interest, based upon our care of others like you. You ultimately get to decide what choices you make in your health care plan. We will do our best to tell you, again, based on our experiences, what will be covered and what might not. We find it better to give you the opportunity to make those decisions yourself.
Q: Why are the charges on my insurance bill different than the self pay rates?
A: The self pay rates include a discount for paying immediately and without billing. Billing is an expensive and inefficient process that drives costs up. This is discussed in the financial billing policies agreement you will sign when you ask us to bill for you. please ask questions if you have any before you sign the agreement.
Q: Do I need a prescription from my Medical Doctor to see a Chiropractor?
A: Doctors of Chiropractic are portal of entry providers, like Dentists. You don’t need permission or a referral to see one. Some insurance companies use a gatekeeper, who limit all kinds of care. On a few limited plans they might require a referral, but this is not common and has only to do with billing.
